Who will I talk to?

One person who pressed Start match at the same moment you did, somewhere in the world. Talk as long as it is fun, then tap next or follow them to stay in touch.

01// the first ten seconds

What happens when the call connects

A LivU video chat begins the moment you press Start match. The matcher looks for one other person who is waiting right then, and when it finds them both cameras switch on together. There is no lobby, no waiting room and no third person watching. This is the whole point of a 1v1 chat: the face on your screen is talking only to you.

Those first seconds feel quicker than you expect. Most people say hi, smile, and ask where the other person is. That is enough. You do not need a script, and nobody expects a speech. If the energy is good, you keep going. If it is not, a single tap moves you to the next match without any awkward goodbye.

People search for this in a dozen ways, from livu 1v1 chat and 1vs1 chat livu to livu cam and livu videochat. Every one of those searches points to the same idea: live video chat with strangers, taken a single conversation at a time.

02// look and sound fine in a minute

Set up your camera before you tap

You do not need studio gear for a good LivU cam picture. A few small adjustments make a bigger difference than any new device.

  1. 01

    Face the light

Sit facing a window or lamp, not with it behind you. Light on your face beats any filter.

  2. 02

    Raise the camera

Prop the phone or laptop at eye level. Looking up from below is the least flattering angle there is.

  3. 03

    Check the background

Move anything personal out of shot: mail with your address, school logos, a view from your window that gives away the street.

  4. 04

    Use headphones

They cut echo for the other person and keep your side of the conversation private from the room.

03// three ways in

Video, voice or text: switch as you warm up

Video is the default mode, but you are never forced into it. Voice mode keeps your camera off while you still hear each other, and text mode keeps both camera and microphone off. Set it before a match; it stays that way until the chat is over.

Many users type first, add their voice when things relax, and bring the camera in last. It is a natural way to meet new people without the pressure of being seen straight away. Got a line in Spanish or Portuguese? One tap on translate turns it into your language, whatever mode you are in.

04// getting past "hi"

Openers that keep a 1v1 chat alive

The best first line is a question that cannot be answered with one word. "Where are you calling from, and what time is it there?" works almost everywhere. So does noticing something real: a poster on the wall, a guitar in the corner, a cup of coffee at midnight.

Keep it light for the first minute, laugh at yourself if the connection lags, and ask about their evening before you talk about yours. If the conversation runs out, there is no shame in saying "nice meeting you" and tapping next. The same goes for them.

  • where are you calling from?
  • what is the time there?
  • what are you up to tonight?
  • best food in your city?

05// livu live, explained

Live streams and 1v1 calls are two different things

Searches for livu live or livu live video chat can mean two things, and LivU has both. Every random match is a live call, nothing pre-recorded. Separately, the Live tab on the online page lists hosts who are streaming right now: you can watch, write in the room chat, send a gift, or start a private 1v1 video call with the host from inside the stream. You cannot broadcast your own stream on LivU; it is a place to watch and to talk one to one.

If you were looking for livu videos to watch later, we do not host recorded clips. Calls are live and are not saved by us. Your safety controls in each call are covered on is LivU safe, and good habits for meeting strangers are collected on our safety tips page.

LivU video chat questions

How do I start a LivU video chat?

Open livuapp.online and press Start match. Within moments LivU finds a stranger who is also waiting, and both cameras light up together. No account is needed for your first call.

Is a LivU 1v1 chat private?

Each call has exactly two people in it, and nobody else can watch. Remember that the other person could still capture their own screen, so share only what you would be fine with anyone seeing.

Can I video chat without showing my face?

Yes. Choose voice mode to keep your camera off, or text mode to keep both camera and microphone off. You can switch modes between matches.

What does livu cam mean?

It is just another way people search for the LivU video chat. Your camera is used only during a call and only after you give the browser permission.

Can I call the same person again?

Follow them during or after the call. They stay in your list, so you can message them and meet again instead of hoping the random matcher brings you back together.

What is the Live tab?

It lists hosts who are streaming at that moment. You can watch, chat in the room, send a gift or start a 1v1 call with a host. Users do not broadcast their own streams.

Are LivU calls recorded?

Not by us. Calls are live. We keep a short log that a match happened and any evidence attached to a report, as the privacy policy explains.

What should I do if someone is rude?

Tap next to leave, then report or block them. Blocked accounts are never matched with you again, and reports are reviewed by real people.
